PLAYING VIDEO OVER ONE manufacturer's digital signage network could now be as simple as a click, a drag, and a drop. According to UK–based Cabletime, its new MediaStar Drag and Drop control and scheduling software for the company's MediaStar EvoNet content delivery systems allows for easier editing and manipulation of media files.

Users can not only use the Drag and Drop software to deploy co-located or dispersed EvoNet units throughout an IP network, delivering content such as PowerPoint presentations converted to HTML to an individual or group, they can also control the device's output, media source, playlist, and synchronization via user-friendly content updating.

For example, a user can set up a series of timed events that show streamed TV or HTML pages—features that are useful in publishing, sporting, government, education, medical, and financial markets, where EvoNet video distribution sees significant popularity.

MediaStar products work over a company's existing IT infrastructure, offering both off-LAN and IP delivery mechanisms.
