SIM2 added a new, lower-priced model to its Domino series of DLP projectors. The D60 front projection systems delivers 1080p full-HD video at a competitive $4,995 MSRP, according to the company.

"We now have three offerings under $10,000 that compete against anything else in this category," said Charlie Boornazian, vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement. "It's important to our dealers that we offer a complete range of projectors that answer their full range of customer needs, and the new D60 deliver incredible 1080p picture quality and a tremendous value."

The model's single-chip DLP projection system is based on the latest 1080p DarkChip3 0.95-inch DMD chipset from Texas Instruments, which incorporates two recent developments to the latest generation of DLP solutions: BrilliantColor and Dynamic Black. The two provide the D60 with a contrast ratio greater than 10,000:1 and an extended color gamut.

In addition to its performance value, the D60 also has several user functions, such as three preset modes (Cinema, Dynamic, and Standard), three customizable memories, and a full range of inputs and outputs, including HDMI, component, and RGB-HD. The projector is also compatible with all video standards and integrates on-board processing for 16:9, anamorphic, letterbox, and pixel-for-pixel aspect ratios.
