Verizon Wireless customers can now get instant communication around the country with the new "Push to Talk" walkie-talkie feature, which allows users to connect directly with other Verizon customers via a Push to Talk-capable handset.
The service can be used throughout Verizon Wireless' nationwide network. One of the features of the service is the ability for the user to set up group-calling lists on their own through Verizon Wireless' Contact Management Web site. Each calling group can include up to 10 Push to Talk users in various locations around the country. In addition, "presence" icons on the handset display show which contacts are available to receive a Push to Talk call.
The Motorola V60p phone is the first model available with Push to Talk capabilities and can be used as both a wireless phone and in walkie-talkie mode; other models will be available soon. Customers can choose from a number of monthly service plans, ranging from $59.99 for 400 anytime voice minutes to $219.99 for 3200 anytime voice minutes. One-to-one Push to Talk time is unlimited.
