Turn Your Marketing Words in the Best Message That Will Grab Attention

Author: Kaitlyn Miller

In every marketing collateral copy that you write – be it brochure printing, print business cards , color business cards or even your Memorial Day greeting cards – your goal is to attract the attention of your target clients, keep it, and make them so interested that you prompt some action from them. Whether it’s to call you, click on your website, or to visit your shop, your copy can generate interest, enough to make them want to do what you asked of them.

So how do you write an effective copy to help you generate leads to your business?

One is to eliminate as much as possible all unnecessary words in your copy.

You need to only include words, phrases, sentences and paragraphs that make it easy for your target audience to read and understand your message. Not only do they have an easier time of it, your short sentences and precise words can make your message more interesting. This is particularly true for your print business cards and color business cards where you can only write so much in their very limited space. Thus, you have to maximize whatever you have to work with and make sure that you get your message across in as little effort as possible.

Two, make sure that you reduce, if not remove all words that are often overused in many a marketing copy. An example is the excessive use of ‘there’ and ‘just’ that when eliminated doesn’t affect the essence of your message.

Three, don’t talk about you. Nobody cares, especially your target clients. It’s the glaring truth that you need to accept right here right now. What your target clients care about is to know what you can do to provide for their needs and wants. That’s why you’re in business in the first place. You’re here because you would want to provide your customers with the solution to their issues and concerns. So avoid having the center of attention pointing at you; instead, focus on your target market.

The next step then is to focus on the benefits – what you can offer that the others don’t. What can you bring on the table? What can you do that can give you the edge over your competition? Just remember to focus on the benefits and not on bashing your competition to the ground. Keep the attention on the positive and work from there.

As a final note: always bear in mind that marketing your business is not about you. On the contrary, it’s all about your target clients – their needs and wants. So turn your copy writing around and make them the center of attention in your marketing message. The more you focus on them, the better are your chances of getting them interested in what you have to say in your marketing collaterals.
