How to Market to the Article Distribution Market

Marketing for article distribution is more than just achieving mechanical perfection; that is expected. There is a distinction between writing for the market and marketing to the market itself. These two disparate concepts are often confused with each other; creating a frustrating experience for not only the writer, it annoys the publisher. The key to understanding the market is writing with the sole intention of article distribution. Satisfying the publisher is fundamental, because the publisher knows their market. As a professional writer, it is not only necessary to write to the publisher's specifications, it is absolutely required.

Writing for article distribution is different than writing a story. A well-crafted story invites the reader to suspend their disbelief and engages them; each word drawing the reader deeper into the unknown. It is an intimate experience. A well-crafted article, however, is written for a critical – and often a more knowledgeable – audience. An article generally presents a problem; and, by logical argumentation and expository analysis, offers potential solutions.
