The MicroWedge Series MW12 stage monitor from Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) is the first model in the series to be released under the agreement between LOUD Technologies and MicroWedge developer Rat Sound Systems. Under the agreement, EAW serves as the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of MicroWedge products, according to EAW executives.

The MW12 provides enhanced fidelity, power handling, and reliability in comparison to previous MicroWedge models, says the company, with a blend of upgraded transducers and EAW's crossover design technique. Mechanical durability has also been improved, along with enhancements to enclosure fabrication, ergonomics, interconnection, and weight reduction.

Featuring a coaxial driver arrangement that pairs a 12-inch woofer with a 3-inch (diaphragm) HF compression driver, the MW12 delivers full yet controlled 90-degree dispersion. EAW says this design path guarantees that all frequencies emanate from the exact same point.

The MW12 is also processor-enhanced for plug-and-play operation, and its physical profile focuses upward-firing coverage near the wedge. A large port on the front of the cabinet serves to enhance LF response in coupling with the floor and houses dual input connectors.
